This October, the GMHBA building at 60 Moorabool Street became home to not only our head office, but also to the Geelong health insurance branch and a brand-new health hub. Centrally located, this state-of-the-art space brings health insurance, eye care, dental care and physio to one place for members and the community – with medical to come.

Returning home
Originally purchased in 1961, 60-68 Moorabool St housed a temporary weatherboard display home on the site before the GMHBA building was erected in November 1963.
Over the years, many members have shared fond memories of visiting GMHBA’s original Geelong branch with its long counter and the many stations members worked their way through to submit their claims.
In the early 2000s the branch moved next door when GMHBA’s office extended to incorporate the old Thai restaurant. It moved again in 2019 and crossed the road to Westfield Shopping Centre in preparation for the new head office build which was completed in 2021.
Today the building at 60 Moorabool St is shared with a number of tenants across six levels, including multiple floors for GMHBA’s head office and the new flagship health hub located on the ground floor.

As our community continues to grow and evolve, so too will its healthcare needs. The development of our flagship location allows us the flexibility to adapt and expand as demand increases, ensuring that the hub remains a key healthcare destination for years to come.

This reduces the complexity for patients, who can access multiple services in one convenient location, and fosters collaboration among healthcare providers to offer holistic and integrated care.
Do you have to be a member to visit the hub?
No. This hub is for everyone! Created for patients within the Geelong area, whether they are a GMHBA member or not, the new hub has a focus on preventative health care and offers the same level of service and expertise you’ve come to expect from the GMHBA brand – now in its 90th year of operation. We see this as a cornerstone of our commitment to improving health outcomes for all.
How can I access the hub?
Parking is limited around the GMHBA building, so we recommend parking at Westfield Geelong for easy access.
Will existing GMHBA practices in the CBD be closing?
Yes, our Geelong health insurance branch, dental care, eye care and physio teams and practices have relocated to the new hub and the following locations are now closed:
- GMHBA Dental Care, Ryrie Street, Geelong
- GMHBA Health Insurance and Eye Care, Westfield Geelong
- Geelong Physiotherapy, Bellerine Street, Geelong
