Participating private hospitals

GMHBA is committed to providing members with hospital cover options which represent the highest quality and best value. To meet this commitment to our members, we have agreements with over 500 private hospitals across Australia. 

We recommend you contact us prior to any hospital admission for further information on what benefits will be payable under your health insurance policy and potential out-of-pocket costs.

Information about the Healthscope Group of Hospitals

Up to and including 3 March 2025, the GMHBA partipacting private hospital list includes 38 private hospitals operated by Healthscope Ltd (Healthscope). 

As of 4 March 2025, we will no longer have a contract with Healthscope and, accordingly, the Healthscope Group of Hospitals will no longer be part of GMHBA's participating private hospital list.

Further changes to our participating private hospitals

Members in Sydney, NSW and Canberra, ACT please note:

Genea Fertility has indicated they will no longer have an agreement with GMHBA from close of business 13 December 2024

This impacts the following hospitals:

  • Genea Day Surgery, Sydney NSW
  • Genea Liverpool, Liverpool NSW
  • Genea Norwest, Bella Vista NSW
  • Genea Canberra, Deakin ACT

From close of business 13 December 2024 the above hospitals will no longer be on our participating private hospital list.

The above changes will not impact any pre-booked admissions prior to and within six months of the contract termination dates, but any new admissions after this time may have greater out-of-pocket costs incurred as these hospitals will no longer be on our participating private hospitals list and we will no longer pay the same level of hospital benefits.

Please note that transitional arrangements apply for the following circumstances:

  • If your treatment commenced prior to the contract termination date
  • If you have pre-booked a procedure
  • Patients who are already undergoing a course of treatment
  • If you require an emergency admission

We recommend you contact us on 1300 446 422 and speak with your specialist/s if you or a person covered under your health insurance policy are planning to attend one of these hospitals.

Members in Melbourne, VIC please note:

Gastro Medicine & Endoscopy Group have chosen to terminate their agreement with GMHBA effective 5 January 2025.

This impacts the following hospitals:

  • Mornington Endoscopy
  • Rosebud Endoscopy

On and after 5 January 2024 the above hospitals will no longer be on our participating private hospital list.

The above changes will not impact any pre-booked admissions prior to and within six months of the contract termination dates, but any new admissions after this time may have greater out-of-pocket costs incurred as these hospitals will no longer be on our participating private hospitals list and we will no longer pay the same level of hospital benefits.
