GMHBA promotes the spirit of giving this Christmas with OneCare Geelong and Lions Club Corio Bay
While many of us are excitedly planning for a festive period of celebration, abundance and being together, there’s still many people in our community who are doing it tough and need a helping hand.
Whether it be financial stress, social isolation or experiencing family violence, there are many reasons why individuals and families might find themselves unable to celebrate the kind of Christmas we all deserve.
As part of OneCare Geelong’s CarePackage initiative, GMHBA and Lions Club Corio Bay have teamed up to provide some festive cheer to families and individuals.
GMHBA have sponsored 250 Lions Club Christmas Cakes to be included in each package, which will be distributed to families and individuals via schools, community organisations and local churches.
GMHBA staff members will also be supporting the cause by packing CarePackages with other volunteers from Geelong-based organisations, and crafting handwritten notes for each package for a personal touch.
GMHBA has proudly played a part in supporting the Geelong community and beyond for over 85 years by putting the health and wellbeing of our members and community first.
GMHBA CEO, David Greig said “We’re a proud local organisation that cares deeply about the wellbeing of our community, so it is wonderful to have this opportunity to help people celebrate the festive period.”
Lions Club Corio President, Rhonda Pieper, who supplied the Christmas cakes with help from the Geelong Lions Club, said, “Lions Club Corio Bay are proud to support the OneCare Christmas CarePackages this year. Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion. We serve the Geelong community with pride.”
Claire Faulmann, OneCare CEO said, “OneCare are overwhelmed by the support of the Geelong community for the CarePackage initiative. We are proud to be working with GMHBA, a Geelong institution who are the backbone of our community’s health and wellbeing, as well as Lions Club who continue to support grassroots organisations with such passion and dedication.”
