Fifty remarkable staff celebrated at annual GMHBA long tenure awards
A dedicated and diverse mix of staff from GMHBA have celebrated their long service in a ceremony broadcast across Victoria.
It’s a special year for the Geelong-based private health insurer as it marks its 90th anniversary with a calendar of events celebrating its people, members, patients and community partners.
Fifty people were honoured at the annual long tenure awards, including two staff members with 20 years’ service, four with 15 years’ service, four with 10 years’ service and forty celebrating their fifth year with the not-for-profit company.
GMHBA Chief of People and Culture Kate Barlow said it was a testament to the growing nature of the business to see such a broad range of roles and locations reflected in the list of honourees.
“Our people are at the centre of everything we do, and to see GPs, dentists, physios, optometrists and nurses recognised alongside our corporate staff shows that GMHBA is about so much more than just private health insurance,” she said.
“We have a dedicated and engaged workforce that is focused on supporting and empowering our members, customers and patients. We are proud to be able to make a difference within our community by putting their health and wellbeing first.”
GMHBA partnered with local providers to create special gifts for each recipient, with each employee to receive a platter from Wathaurong Glass and Arts. Wathaurong Glass is a Geelong based Company that take great pride in producing unique Aboriginal artwork in glass.
The platters are presented in boxes hand made by GDP Industries, a Geelong based community company providing training, work experience and long-term supported employment for adults and young people 16 years and over with disability.
