GMHBA Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Claire Higgins to its Board of Directors.
Mrs Higgins is a highly regarded leader and experienced director with a diverse background across a range of industries, including health and ageing, superannuation, property, water and manufacturing.
Mrs Higgins brings with her almost 20 years of extensive governance experience, as well as strong knowledge of the health insurance industry. Until recently she was a director of health insurer, RT Health Fund.
GMHBA Chairman, Mr Jim Walsh, said he is very pleased to have someone of Mrs Higgins’ experience and connections join the Board.
“Claire’s knowledge of the health care and private health insurance industries, together with her expertise in audit, risk and compliance will be invaluable to GMHBA and translate well to the highly-regulated, customer-focused environment we operate in,” Jim said.
“Her demonstrated ability to guide business strategy development will add value to the Board in overseeing the delivery of GMHBA’s long-term strategies.”
Mrs Higgins’ appointment supports the organisation’s strong local value proposition and commitment to Geelong and regional Victoria.
She is a long-term local resident, with life-long connections to rural and regional Victoria and is well connected to the needs of the wider Geelong community.
“I particularly like GMHBA’s approach to being a part of the community and spreading the message of good health and community support,” Mrs Higgins said.
As well as her local perspective, she is keen to bring her knowledge of the broader health system and health insurance to GMHBA.
“I have gained quite some experience in other industries and roles and I hope to contribute this broader knowledge for the benefit of GMHBA and the community.”
Along with this, Mrs Higgins’ professional background aligns closely with GMHBA’s values and strategic priorities as the organisation continues to place an increased focus on customer experience.
“It was very important to appoint a director who reflected our organisational values as we work hard to make GMHBA an even stronger business, while ensuring we are a valued partner in the health journey of our members and customers,” Jim said.
“Claire is an excellent fit for GMHBA and our Board and we’re very confident that she will make a strong contribution.”
