Community

GMHBA supports a range of community events and initiatives that enhance local community life.

Our mission is to support the health of our communities for generations. As a regionally based health fund, being community minded is inherent in our culture. GMHBA is committed to supporting our local community and embraces opportunities to connect with our members and broader community in positive and meaningful ways.

We continue to refine and grow our community engagement strategy to ensure that we are delivering exceptional programs that drive real change and improvements to the health and wellbeing of our local communities.

Our events

GMHBA engages the broader community in a range of events including free public health seminars and a variety of health promoting programs, so we can be healthier together.

Community partnerships

GMHBA partners with a number of organisations to support the health and wellbeing of our community, with a particular focus on physical activity, mental health, nutrition and engagement.

We partner with trusted and respected local community organisations who work tirelessly to support local communities.

Employee engagement

Giving back is part of the culture at GMHBA and we’re very proud of the way our employees participate and get involved. There are numerous opportunities for employees to get involved including one day paid volunteer leave per year and workplace giving to Give Where You Live Foundation.

Our employees’ participation is consistently above national benchmarks, demonstrating an eagerness on the part of our staff to give back to their community.

Geelong Cats sponsorship

As a member focused health organisation, we are passionate about delivering real value for our members by investing in relationships that contribute to building stronger and healthier communities.

Two of Geelong's most iconic organisations, GMHBA and the Geelong Cats, have joined forces in a unique long term partnership. Both organisations have a long and proud history of supporting Geelong and regional Victoria. This partnership demonstrates their shared commitment to the region and its people and allows us to actively promote GMHBA, connect us with new audiences, while positively influencing the health of our communities.

GMHBA members can also access exclusive Cats Rewards as part of the partnership.

University partnerships

Supporting research and partnering with academic institutions is an important element of GMHBA’s commitment to supporting the health of our members and patients, alongside our broader contribution to the community.

We have partnered with Universities on a variety of projects in different ways, including; grant submission support, dissemination of research outcomes, engagement in research via seminars, articles and social media, recruitment of participants, and, providing education opportunities for clinicians working in our health care businesses.
